Al-Makura Denies Friction In Relationship With Deputy

Gov. Tanko Al-Makura of Nasarawa State has dismissed as “mischievous”, reports of alleged rift between him and his deputy, Mr Dameshi Luka.

Al-Makura denied the report on Wednesday in Lafia at a meeting of the state Interim Management Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He alleged that the report in some sections of the media, was the “handiwork of mischief makers who do not mean well for the development of the state”.
He added that: “Those waiting to see friction between me and the deputy governor will have to wait till dooms day”.
Al-Makura attributed the “giant strides recorded in the state within a short time” to the collaborative efforts of those in the administration including the deputy governor.
He urged members of the APC in the state to “bury their personal interests and imbibe the spirit of sacrifice to enable the party to grow”.
Al-Makura appealed to members of the party to support the interim management committee and avoid unnecessary scheming capable of causing disharmony in the party.
He described the recent claims that over 4,000 supporters of the APC in the state had defected to the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) as “ridiculous’’, and urged the public to disregard it.
He announced a five per cent deduction in the salaries of all political appointees in the state to finance the party.
Earlier, Mr Stanley Buba, state interim Chairman of APC, thanked the governor for the provision of vehicles and other logistics to the party.
He said the committee had commenced the process of establishing party structures from the ward, local government, zonal and state levels.
Buba pledged that members of the committee would uphold the principle of integrity, fairness and transparency, as well as work with the constitution and manifesto of the party. (NAN)
